Bringing Waco the Latest in Laser Technology
We provide our Waco clients only the very best in Lasik surgery technology. Dr. Rhodes uses the finest Wavelight Allegretto Lasik laser. It has received the highest recommendations from the FDA for its perfect pulse technology, and delivers rapid and precise laser bursts. This results in faster and more accurate surgery results.
Because the Allegretto laser has a wide treatment area, it helps the cornea retain its natural shape. This reduces the possibility of negative aftereffects of surgery, such as halo and chronic glare. The Allegretto is quick, precise, and safe, so you can count on Dr. Rhodes delivering the best results.
How Lasek Works:
Your cornea and lens work together to focus rays of light on your retina. Perfect vision results when this focusing power perfectly matches the depth of your eye. When there are mismatches, it results in blurry vision, known as a refractive error. This error causes myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), or astigmatism (levels of blurriness at all distances).
Glasses and contacts bend the light entering your eye to overcome refractive errors. Lasek surgery uses laser light to correct the eye’s refractive error, thus reducing or completely eliminating your need for glasses or contact lenses.
The Lasik procedure is quick and effective. Dr. Rhodes uses a solution to gently remove the surface cells of the cornea. Next, the rapid pulses of the laser reshape the cornea and correct the refractive error. Finally, a soft lens is placed on the eye to allow the healing of the surface cells. The laser is generally used for no more than a minute, and the entire surgical procedure is typically done in less than 20 minutes for both eyes.
A common post-op side effect is eyes that feel irritated. Your impulse might be to rub your eyes, but it’s important that you not rub your eyes following surgery. The surface cells heal fairly quickly, but still needs time to seal and heal. Rubbing your eyes can cause a delay in the healing of the surface cells.
It’s common for you to experience blurry vision the first week after surgery. Your vision will improve steadily, and by the end of week 1 most begin to experience the benefits of Lasek,
